NSE market sustains upward trend

The Nigerian stock exchange closed for the weekend with the market improving on its upward trend.

The market capitalisation closed for the day as well as the weekend at 11.504 trillion Naira, which when compared to Thursday’s closing of 11.387 trillion Naira, increased by 117 billion Naira or 1.03 per cent.

Likewise, the NSE All Share Index closed at 33,276.68 basis points on Friday, gaining 338.7 basis points or 1.03 per cent when compared to Thursday’s closing of 32,937.98 basis points.

At the end of today’s market activities, 44 stocks gained, 17 fell while other stocks closed flat.

GAINERS

Top on the gainers’ list is SEPLAT PETROLEUM DEVELOPMENT COMPANY LTD which had a previous closing price of N425 per share, closing today at N468.56 per share. Thereby gaining N43.56 or 10.25 per cent.

FORTE OIL PLC became the second top gainer when it gained 5.97 or 10.23 per cent on its previous closing price of N58.33 per share to close today at N64.30 per share.

LOSERS

UNIVERSITY PRESS PLC led the losers’ table when it fell from its previous closing price of N3.83 per share, to close today at N3.46 per share, losing 37 kobo or 9.66 per cent.

UACN PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT CO. LIMITED fell from its previous closing price of N2.82 per share by 16 kobo or 5.67 per cent when it closed at N2.66 per share.

CUSTODIAN AND ALLIED PLC landed as the third top loser when it fell from its previous closing price of N3.86 per share, to close today at N3.67 depreciating by 19 kobo or 4.92 per cent.
