International Day of Rural Women is being observed across the world on October 15, to laud the role they play in supporting their communities.
The main purpose of celebrating the day is to ensure efforts for the promotion of constitutional protection for women.
The women living in villages work from dawn to dusk, while standing with their male companions in the fields to till and toil.
These women, some illiterate, are main pillar of agriculture and livestock in rural areas, especially in Nigeria and other third world countries.
Different non-governmental organisations and groups conducts different seminars and conferences to highlight the struggles of rural women in marking the day.
