Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare has qualified for the semi-finals of the women’s 100m event at the ongoing 2017 IAAF World Championships in London.
Running in Heat 3, Okagbare came second with a time of 11.22s behind American, Tori Bowie who recorded a time of 11.05s. Ivet Lalova-Collio from Bulgaria came third with a time of 11.31s.
In the 400m, debutant Samson Nathaniel failed to qualify for the next round. The 20 year old athlete finished fifth in Heat 6 with a time of 46.63s.
Jamaica’s Nathon Allen won the heat with a time of 44.91s while Gil Roberts and Abdalelah Haroun finished second and third respectively.
Also Nigeria’s Chukwuebuka Enekwechi’s journey at event came to an end after failing to advance to the final of the men’s Shot put.
He placed 25th on the overall rankings of the men’s Shot put qualification round at his maiden appearance outing for Nigeria at the Championship.
In the 800m, Nigeria’s Edose Ibadin did not qualify for the next round as he also came sixth in his debut appearance at the championship in a time of 1:46.51.
