Ondo State Governor elect, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu says he intends to urgently bring about rapid development, as he seekss to empower the people through agriculture and entrepreneurship.
He states this while speaking to journalists at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, soon after paying a thank you visit to President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said he would create jobs for the youth, revamp agriculture and encourage entrepreneurship among the people.
“For us in Ondo state, we have come up with five cardinal programmes. We are going to create jobs through agriculture, industrialization and entrepreneurship. It’s not going to be agriculture through hoe and machetes, but it will be a mechanized one. We are going to encourage and train people to be able to employ themselves and employ others. We also have businessmen who are ready to establish industries in our state because it is a viable one and we will provide the enabling environment for that,” the Governor elect stated.
Mr Akeredolu said he would not probe his predecessors but will allow the law take its course. He also cleared the air on his relationship with Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying it was a good one.
“I’m not interested in probe but we will start our work and as we go ahead, if we find any trace or semblance corruptible act committed by anyone, the law will take its course. My relationship with Bola Ahmed Tinubu has always been the same. All of us see this as victory for our party, the the All Progressives Congress, APC, not for any individual. Don’t forget, he has already congratulated me for my victory at the polls,” he said.
Also speaking, Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, who was the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress’ campaign team for the Ondo election, said he was glad that the APC won and the party was not responsible for the failure of other parties as was being insinuated in some quarters.
The Governor elect was accompanied on the visit by his Deputy, Agboola Ajayi and the Minister of State-Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Claudius Daramola, who is also an indigene of Ondo State.
