Osun Court sentences octogenarian, 3 others to death

Osun State high court has sentence an octogenarian and three others to death by hanging.

Those convicted to death alongside are, Tobi Ojo, Famutuwa Femi and Tope Olatunji, who were charged with a two count charge conspiracy and murder contrary to sections 324 and 319 of the criminal Code Cap. 34 Volume 2 Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

According to the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Abiodun Badiora, the convicts who committed the crimes on 13th of April, 2012 conspired to kill a man named Jacob Ajayi for ritual.

The headless body of Ajayi was recovered from a septic tank, with his genitals and parts of his leg removed.

The counsel to the convicts A.O Oluwole had pleaded with the Judge to temper justice with mercy.

Delivering the judgment, Justice Kudrat Akano found the four suspects guilty on the two counts preferred against them and sentenced them accordingly.

Count one, conspiracy attracts fourteen years imprisonment each while the second, murder, attracts a death sentence.

The four convicts were subsequently sentenced to death by hanging.
