The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Lagos State chapter has held its congress ushering in new State executive members.
The congress saw the emergence of Moshood Salvador as the new Chairman of the party in the State.
VON correspondent who witnessed the event reports that the new executives were elected in a consensus arrangement.
The much awaited congress of the main opposition party in Lagos State held on Friday in an atmosphere devoid of rancour.
Party supporters in their hundreds trooped to the PDP State Secretariat, venue of the congress as early as 8.00am in the morning.
After much waiting the returning officer for the congress, Kayode Ariwayo informed the Independent National Electoral Commission-Inec official present and the teeming members of the party that a consensus arrangement had been made by leaders of the party harmonising elective offices.
He therefore proceeded to announce the names of the new cabinet members led by the Chairman, Moshood Salvador, Deputy Chairman, Ola Apena and Secretary, Muiz Shodipe.
The new Chairman in his acceptance speech appealed to aggrieved party members to sheathe their swords and join hands with the new executives to work for the success of the party ahead of the next general election in 2019.
However, the last may not have been heard of the divisions within the Lagos PDP as the faction loyal to the former Minister of State for defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, was noticeably absent from the congress.
