Plateau United coach Kennedy Boboye has slammed a one-week suspension on defender Emmanuel Olowo over alleged “acts of gross indiscipline and insubordination”.
The Media Officer of the club, Albert Dakup, said in a statement on Tuesday that Olowo would not be paid during the period. “Olowo’s suspension became necessary so as to forestall a future occurrence and serve as deterrent to others,” he said.
Dakup said the coach decided to punish the player, who is one of the most experienced players in the team, because he failed to live by example.
He said the coach would only feature players who are ready to help the Jos club pick a continental ticket at the end of the season.
The club decried the team’s performance in the final of the Plateau State Federation Cup against Mighty Jets on Sunday and challenged the players to lift their game irrespective of the opposition.
