Police assures communities of harmonious relationship

Residents of Calabar metropolis in Cross River State, Southern Nigeria have been assured of peace, harmony and stable relationship with security agents.

The Commissioner for Police in Charge of the State Command, Mr. Jimoh Ozi-Obeh made the assurance during a chat with newsmen in Calabar, the capital city.

Ozi-Obeh, who assumed duty a week ago, said the command would continue to strategise and maintain peace amongst the people in the State.

“Generally, we do not have much problem in the State besides the recent clashes between rival gangsters in Calabar South local Government Area, which we, as a force, have nipped in the bud. Those apprehended for such disturbances would be arraigned soon,” the Police Commissioner said.

Tourist delight
According to the Commissioner, Cross River State as a tourist delight would be secured through the dedicated efforts of the police in collaboration with other security agencies.

He stated that: “this State is noted for peace and a tourist delight. The peace of this State, I assure would be sustained in our joint security patrol. We will continue to partner with other agencies to make Calabar an investment centre just as Governor Ayade intends for the people.”

Information sharing
Ozi-Obeh urged the people, particularly media practitioners to partner with the Police to rid society of all forms of criminalities.

“When the media and our dear people provide us with concrete information on the whereabouts of miscreants, it makes our job as security agents easier. We cannot know some things without the assistance of peace loving Nigerians.”

“My appeal to all the people we serve is to share whatever information that would enable us protect society better with us,” he said.

He added that the command would not tolerate vices such as robbery, kidnapping and youth restiveness in Cross River State.
