President Muhammadu Buhari has increased the number of judges in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from thirty seven (37) to seventy five (75).

The increase in the number of judges, follows the President’s assent to an amended Bbill recently passed by the National Assembly on the need for more Judges in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

President Buhari’s assent was in a letter to the National Assembly which was later confirmed by his Senior Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang.

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory Increase in Number of Judges Bill was sponsored by a Senator and member of the House of Representatives, which was eventually harmonized and passed for Presidential assent.
