Refugees Commission, NEMA partner to manage disaster

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, NCFRMI, has reiterated its determination to collaborate with the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA to manage man -made and natural disasters.

Federal High Commissioner of the Commission, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk gave the assurance when the Director General of NEMA, Alhaji Sani Muhammad Sidi paid her a working visit in her office in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

According to her, the two bodies have similar goals and objectives ” We are ready to work with you as a partner and sister Agency” ,

Hajiya  Sadiya acknowledged the vast experiences of the DG and urged him to assist in facilitating the processing and passage of National Policy on IDPs, which  she said  has now reached advanced stage.

She appreciated the visit saying she felt honoured being the first time a  Director General of NEMA ever visited the NCFRMI.

Earlier, the Director General of NEMA, Alhaji  Muhammed Sani Sidi said that the purpose of the visit was also to assure the NCFRMI of its determination to cooperate and collaborate with the Commission.

Alhaji Sidi noted that prior to the appointment of Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk as Commissioner for NCFRMI , She had demonstrated great zeal in humanitarian Programmes, describing her appointment as an  opportunity to leverage on her passion for the  well-being of the downtrodden.

“I have come here with the entire Management Staff to show that we are willing to cooperate with you. We see you as great colleague and we have to work hand in hand.
