The Kwara State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Issa Ore has appealed to members of the union particularly drivers to guide against excessive speeding.
Mr. Ore made the appeal in Ilorin the State capital while speaking with VON correspondent.
The NURTW Chairman urged his members to move early from their base (motor parks) so that they would arrive at their destinations early enough without over-speeding.
He enjoined drivers not to make calls or pick calls while driving so as not to be distracted while on duty.
Mr. Ore condemned the idea of some drivers being hostile with their passengers but rather always see them as friends and that they should return all items forgotten in their vehicles to the owners or to the union secretariat.
The chairman commended the leadership of the union under its National President, Najeem Yasin for providing purposeful leadership and pledged the support of its members in the State to his government and equally assured the State government under the administration of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of his members unalloyed support at all times.
He, however, appealed to the various tires of government to ensure that all roads are made motorable all year round so as to reduce avoidable accidents on the highways.
