Sokoto government to address girl child education

The Sokoto State Government is to hold a stakeholder’s conference on girl child education in the state.

The state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said this in Ilorin while speaking with VON correspondents shortly after his private visit to the Kwara State Governor,  Abdulfatah Ahmed.

Governor Tambuwal said the government was collaborating with UNICEF and the Sultan Foundation in Sokoto to organize the Conference to address challenges confronting the state education sector, particularly Girl child education.

The Governor said already, a bill had been forwarded to the State House of Assembly to establish an education agency with a view to improving school enrollment.

Governor Tambuwal explained that the government efforts in deploying Information and communication technology infrastructure in key sectors earned it the Best Government in e-governance in Nigeria, by the Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency recently.  

On the current economic recession, Governor Tambuwal described the recession as a global phenomenon which is biting harder, saying that the government was cutting cost, blocking leakages and improving Internally Generated Revenues as solutions to the current economic challenges.
