Stock Exchange market capitalisation drops by 1.16%

The equities market of the Nigerian Stock Exchange has for the first time in a long while, dropped in its overall percentage for the day.

After the close of activities for Tuesday, both the All Share Index and the market capitalisation dropped by 1.16 percent.

The market capitalisation closed at 11.132 trillion Naira as against Monday’s closing of 11.263 trillion Naira, therefore dropping by 131 billion Naira, while the All Share Index closed at 32,200.38 basis points as against Monday’s close of 32,578.38 basis points, therefore dropping by 378 basis points.

7.45 million shares were traded worth 6.519 billion in 7,841 deals.

At the close of today’s activities, 38 stocks gained compared to Monday’s 44 stocks, meaning six stocks fell from the gainers table.

STERLIN BANK PLC had a previous closing price of 82 kobo per share but closed today at 90 kobo per share, gaining eight kobo or 9.76 percent.

MAY AND BAKER NIGERIA PLC previously losing at N1.96 per share and closing today at N2.15 per share made it second top gainer today by 19 kobo or 9.69 percent.

Meanwhile CHAMPION BREW PLC previously closed at N2.84 per share but closed today at N3.10 per share, gaining 26 kobo or 9.15 per cent.

The losers’ table on the other hand had an addition of 9 stocks, bringing the number to 22 stocks from Monday’s 13.

Meanwhile, MOBIL OIL NIG PLC which topped the gainers’ table yesterday with a closing price of N319.72 per share fell today to lead the losers’ table by N31.16 or 9.75 per cent to close at N288.56 per share.

NPF MICROFINANCE BANK PLC with a previous closing price of N1.40 per share fell by seven kobo or five percent to close today at N1.33 per share.

DANGOTE CEMENT PLC fell by N10.50 or five per cent, to close at N199.50 as against Monday’s closing price of N210 per share.
