Sultan of Sokoto to honour Rangers FC

The Sultan of Sokoto, Dr Sa’ad Abubakar and other dignitaries are expected to attend the grand reception in honour of the 2015/2016 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) Champions, Rangers International FC.
The grand reception for the “Victorious Rangers’’ is being organised by the Enugu State Government on Monday at the Okpara Square, Enugu.
The Chairman of the Publicity Sub-Committee for the event, Louis Amoke, made this known on Saturday in Enugu
Amoke recalled that the Sultan of Sokoto had been a staunch fan of Enugu Rangers starting from his days in Nsukka (from 1977 to 1983) as an army officer.
He noted that the Sultan of Sokoto had remained committed to the noble cause of the club till date.
“As a football enthusiast, His Eminence’s love, passion and support for Rangers throughout the last season up till the day the club won the NPFL trophy was inspiring and remarkable,’’ he said.
Amoke also revealed that the Sultan is expected to inaugurate some road projects executed across the state by Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration.
He said that His Eminence would also visit the University town of Nsukka, where the people of the area will accord him a civic reception.
“Some of the completed roads for inauguration included: the Nike Lake road and the Abakpa Nike road in Enugu East Local Government Area.
“Others are the Post Office Roundabout- Odenigbo Roundabout- Ogurugu-Ikenga Hotel junction road and the Obechara road Junction-Umuakashi-Mechanic Village-Ikenga Hotels junction road in the University town of Nsukka,’’ he said.
