The Technical Adviser, Rangers International FC of Enugu, Imama Amapakabo, says he will test the newly recruited players against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi at the ongoing Super-4 tournament in Enugu.
Amapakabo said the new players would be used against the team to ascertain their readiness for the forthcoming season and the CAF Champions League.
“I wish, I have 11 new players to use against Wikki Tourists in our next match on November 9, but that was not to be as our newly recruited players were about nine.
“Testing the new players does not insinuate that Wikki Tourists are not a good side but the new players will start with some of the old ones.
“Later on in the game, the other old players will come in to give them a lift but we are going to face the match with all seriousness.
“I thank God we won the first match against Rivers United and probably the game with Wikki will also go in our favour,’’ he said.
The Technical Adviser said the club would take each match as it came and would not compromise the three points at stake.
He however described the Super-4 tournament as the “best pre-season competition’’ for the club as it would give the players a picture of what they should expect from the league and the continental competition.
In his view, the club spokesperson, Foster Chime, praised the players for their 2-0 win over Rivers United and urged them to approach other matches of the championship with seriousness.
He promised football supporters that the club would lift the trophy as a Christmas gift to the people of the state and the South-East Zone in general.
Chime called on the sports-loving people of the Enugu State and beyond to come out and support the club to victory.
Rangers will battle Wikki Tourist on November 9 at 5 p.m., while Rivers United will battle FC Ifeanyi Ubah at 7 p.m. the same day.
