African champions, the Super Falcons of Nigeria has retained their position as they remain number one in Africa and 34th in the world in the latest FIFA women’s world ranking released on Friday, June 23, 2017.
Black Queens of Ghana dropped one place from 45th to 46th in the rankings and are second in Africa.
The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, who as hosts, lost 1-0 to the Super Falcons in the final of last year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, maintained number 47 and occupy third spot on the continent.
Women’s world champions, the United States of America moved up one place to number one. In second place is former world champions Germany, France are in third position, in fourth is Canada.
England are fifth, Japan sixth, Australia seventh, Brazil eight, Sweden ninth and North Korea 10th.
The next FIFA women’s ranking will be released on September 1st, 2017.
