Trade, Investment meeting would enhance diversification – Minister

The Nigerian Minister, Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah has expressed optimism that appropriate policies backed up with the dogged will of this administration will soon make the goal of economic diversification a reality in Nigeria.

He gave the assurance during the briefing by the Chairman, Ministerial Planning Committee for the 8th meeting of the National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment,Mr. Ochapa Ogenyi.

He said, the event which will take place at June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto Abeokuta, Ogun state from 24th-27th October,2016, with the theme, ’Diversification of Nigerian Economy from over Dependence on Oil Export’’ will have Nigeria’s Vice-President, His Excellency, Prof.Yemi Osinbajo, deliver the Keynote Address.

Earlier, Mr Ogenyi explained that stakeholders were requested to come up with novel ideas in their memos to the council to ensure that this year’s Council meeting results in implementable policies and programmes that will take the country out of the current economic challenges.

The 8th meeting of the National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment is expected to bring together State Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries of Industry, Trade, Investment and Tourism, Chief Executive Officers of Parastatals and Agencies under the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Development Partners, MAN, NACIMMA, FACAN and other relevant stakeholders.
