Troops clear livestock rustlers camps in Zamfara

Troops of the Nigerian Army have intensified operations against suspected armed bandits and livestock rustlers, as part of Operation Sharan Daji.
“Following the peace talks initiated by 1 Division Nigerian Army, with relevant stakeholders and Miyetti Allah, repentant cattle rustlers are providing valuable information in ongoing operations.
 
In addition, based on the intensified military action, armed bandits and cattle rustlers are making overtures to surrender through the State government,” army spokesman, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman said.

He added that troops had “in the last 3 days destroyed several armed bandits/livestock rustlers camps and motorcycles in Bungudu and Maru Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.

They neutralized 9 armed bandits/livestock rustlers during the operations within the area. Similarly, they arrested 2 suspected armed bandits, Awidi Mohammed and Mummuni Mohammed and recovered stolen 292 cows, 44 rams and 17 donkeys from them.
Similarly, the troops also arrested one Abdullahi Abubakar, a suspected key accomplice of the notorious armed bandit called “Buharin Daji,” he concluded.
