University Vice Chancellor pledges curriculum review

The new Vice Chancellor of Nigeria’s Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede has promised an immediate curriculum review of all academic programmes in the institution.

Professor Ogunbodede said the move would help to take the institution to a greater height.

OAU, formerly University of Ife is ‘one of the leading Nigeria’s citadels of knowledge.’

Professor Ogunbodede gavethe commitment at his formal inauguration as the 11th Vice Chancellor of the institution.

He is to lead the university ‘for the next five years.’

The Pro Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of OAU, Dr Yemi Ogunbiyi said that the occasion marked a new era in the history of the institution.

“The installation of Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede as the new substantive VC, through a process that has been widely accepted, fair and transparent, will usher in a new beginning here,’’ Dr Ogunbiyi stated.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi who also spoke at the occasion, urged the staff and students to support the new Vice Chancellor to succeed.

He urged them to embrace peaceful means in resolving their differences, saying “while justice is needed to achieve peace, it is important to realise that no meaningful progress can be made in crisis.’’
