Voice of Nigeria Management has commenced the first of a series of in-house training programmes to meet the skills-set needs of staff of the Corporation.

Addressing participants at the opening of the first two-days training programme for the year 2016, the Executive Director News, Mr Ahaziah Suleiman, who represented the Director General, Mr Sam Worlu, said “the training will be replicated to fill the skills gap in each of its operations sections.

The policy is in keeping with the Federal Government’s effort to cut cost and ensure efficiency.

Mr Worlu challenged participants to employ the opportunity of the training to improve their skills on the job.

“We will continue to use our Training Centre instead of sending you to an external training school. This will help us to cut costs and ensure adherence to Von’s House-Style. This training would focus mainly on the New Media to meet the global challenge.” The DG said.

The training, the second to be held in VON’s Training Centre in Lugbe, a suburb in Abuja, has as its theme “News Digital Platforms for Online Journalists”, with focus on ways to overcome emerging challenges in the field.

Twenty participants drawn from the News, Programmes and Online sections, are attending the training, scheduled to close on Thursday 28th January, 2016.
