VON DG commends lawmaker empowerment initiatives

A Nigerian lawmaker, Olusegun Odebunmi has been commanded for his massive poverty alleviation and youth empowerment programs.

The Director General, Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu gave the commendation at the football league matches involving the five local governments in Ogbomoso.

Odebunmi represents Ogo-Oluwa and Surulere Federal Constituency of Ogbomoso in the Nigeria House of Representatives

The foundation, otherwise known as BUNVIC Empowerment Foundation, reaches out to people via four different areas, viz: BUNVIC Education and Enlightenment Program, BUNVIC Health and Enlightenment Program, BUNVIC Sports and Enlightenment Program as well as BUNVIC Agriculture and Enlightenment Program.

Reacting to the quality of the matches and varying enlightenment programs, Mr Osita urged politicians and wealthy Nigerians to emulate the lawmakers.

“This is commendable. This is enviable. You can see from the response of the people who filled the Stadium to the brim that Honorable Odebunmi is a man of the people. I hereby enjoin our politicians and those who have been blessed by the society to strive to give back to the nation. With this kind of development, militants, thuggery and criminal activities will be banished from the society,” he said.

Developing skills
The Zonal Director of NTA Network Center, Ibadan, Mrs Jennifer Famosinpe urged the youths and adults to take advantage of the programs to develop their potentials and shun cultism and other vices.

This is just as she praised the lawmaker for embarking on all round developments of his people.

Responding, Odebunmi said his commitment to grass root development informed his adventure into virtually all segments of societal needs comprising education, health, agriculture and sports.

“This is why my foundation is giving out over two million Naira in bursaries to higher institution students, similar amount to organise education competitions and awards to best performers in the events, as well as those who excelled entrance examinations at all levels.
“We are equally giving out souvenirs, investing in health, equipping the hospitals and empowering both the youths and the elderly to embrace agriculture. You can see that today’s seminar dwell much on academic excellence and entrepreneurial skills, particularly in agriculture,”
the lawmaker said.

Dignitaries and beneficiaries were full of praises for the lawmaker as they enjoined other politicians to emulate his good gesture.
