VON DG tasks staff on news dissemination technologies

The Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Mr.Sam Worlu has urged members of staff to keep up with new technologies of news dissemination especially with the use of social media.

He made the call during an in-house training of some staff of  Programme and News department of the organisation at the Voice of Nigeria training centre in Lugbe, Abuja.

“People are more likely to go to the web and google whatever it is they want to know, so what we are struggling to do is to make sure that when people do those kind of searches we are one of the sources so as to pride ourselves to remain the authoritative choice,” he said.

He promised that the management will upgrade the internet access to enhance operations.

“I would say that by the end of this quarter, we would have four mega pixels of direct fibre connectivity exclusively to VON.” The DG said.

The Executive Director of News, Mr. Ahazia Suleiman also called for proper synergy between the two departments in other to give accurate and proper report to an incident.

“Let us see ourselves as first and foremost, Voice of Nigeria Staff, not news or programmse directorate staff. Time has come where we need the synergy.”

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Mrs Ngozi Anigbogu thanked the management as she urged the participants to make proper use of the web to promote stories for the organisation.
