Cameroon’s Issa Nlareb on Saturday maintained his position at the head of the pack at the end of second round play at the 2017 FCT Classic in Abuja.
The (FCT) Classic teed off on Friday at the (IBB) International Golf and Country Club.
It is the season opening event of the 2017 West Africa Golf Tour (WAGT) and is expected to end on Sunday.
Nlareb had shot to the top of the leader board after finishing with a gross 69 (-3) in the first round play on Friday.
He continued from where he left off by clinching three birdies in the second round.
But things were not plain sailing for him as the three birdies were countered with seven drop shots for a round of 76 (4+).
With tougher pin positions for the second round, all players found scoring a challenge.
All is now set for the final round of the (FCT) Classic, with the professionals teeing off first from 6.50 a.m. on Sunday.
The pros will be followed by 128 amateurs competing in the (FCT) Amateur Classic.
Professional golfers from Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Zimbabwe are taking part in the three-day event.
The tournament marks the first anniversary of the tour which was launched in Feb. 2016 in Abuja.
The prize money for the (FCT) Classic is 25,000 US dollars.
