Water resources ministry to unveil PEWASH Initiative

The Nigerian Minister of Water Resources, Mr.Suleiman Adamu, has express concern over the poor level of Water Supply and Sanitation in the country.

According to the Minister, more than 50 million Nigerians do not have access to improved sources of drinking water while over 100 million lack access to improved sanitation facilities either at home or in public places.

Adamu Aldo said that to address this situation, the Ministry recently launched an initiative tagged,“Partnership for Expanded Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene” (PEWASH).

In view of this , the Minister is inviting all the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the Organized Private Sector to a one-day interactive meeting on Thursday 20thJuly, 2017 in Ikeja, Lagos Southern Nigeria where the PEWASH Initiative will be unveiled to the private sector.

The PEWASH is a National Collaboration Platform for the improvement of access to water supply and Sanitation nationwide through structured multi-agency partnerships.

He added that in the partnership, there are roles for the Public sector, private sector and other development partners both local and international.
