Nigerians have been urged to be very optimistic and remain confident in God’s unique intervention on the nation’s affairs.

In her Eid-el-Kabir message, the wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari said that all lessons in the act of worship like sacrifice should be reflected in people’s daily conducts, to improve their lives and that of their neighbours.

Prayer for leaders
Mrs Buhari congratulated Nigerians for being alive to witness yet another sallah celebration and called for consistent prayers for leaders and the safe return of the abducted Chibok girls as the government works towards that.

According to her, the period of Eid-el-Kabir is very special to Muslims because of its spiritual uplifting and exhortation on the position of sacrifice as enshrined in the Holy Quran.

“Therefore as Nigerian  Muslims mark this very special occasion, I want to urge them to reflect on the lessons embedded in the Eid El Kabir season to reappraise their closeness to God, level of sacrifice, commitment and sense of patriotism to the country,” Mrs Buhari stated.

The President’s wife observed the two raqa’at prayer at the Ansar-Udeen mosque in Wuse II, Abuja.

Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Governor, Muhammadu Jibrilla has celebrated the Eid-el-Kabir Sarah with the Internally Displaced Person, IDPs, at the Malkohi camp.

“Celebrating the festival with them is part of my concern for the IDPs in the State, after the insurgency in the North-east sub-zero, especially in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states, last few years,” Governor Jibrilla said.

The celebrations at the camp is said to be the first of its kind to be undertaken by any Chief Executive of the State, since the beginning of the insurgency.

Sense of belonging
It was aimed at giving the displaced persons a sense of belonging.

While at the camp with members of his cabinet and other top government functionaries, Governor Jibrilla urged the IDPs to regard their plight as the will of the Almighty God and called on the people of the State to assist them in any way possible.

The Governor commended the efforts of the present administration in tackling the security challenge in the region, which have made it possible for people to celebrate this year’s sallah without any fear of being attacked by the insurgents.

Support for IDPs
He, however, appealed to well meaning individuals and cooperate organisations to continue to rally round government in its efforts to make life more meaningful and bearable for the IDPs.

On behalf of the IDPs, Mr. Dominic Samuel commended the gesture of the governor.

“This is the first time a Governor and his entire cabinet would come to identify with us during festive period of this nature,” Mr. Samuel stated.

He also urged other leaders to emulate Governor Jibrilla while commending the efforts of his government in restoring peace in the State.

The highlight of the celebrations was distributions of food and gifts.
