Wikki back on top of Nigerian league

Wikki Tourists of Bauchi returned to the top of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after a 2-0 win over visiting Abia Warriors on Saturday.

A goal in each half by Ibrahim Abdullahi and Godwin Obaje was all the Tourists needed to claim back the top spot after Rangers Intentional played out a 1-1 draw with Lobi Stars.

Ibrahim Alhassan Abdullahi’s goal came in the 24th minute, he fired low from close range via a well assist by Abdullahi Musaand Obaje made it two-nil as he benefited from a solo effort, where he calmly displaced Emmanuel Olowo and finished off perfectly.

With this goal, Godwin Obaje has now moved clear on top of the goalscorers chart on 14 goals.

In other league games played yesterday, Rangers International of Enugu played out a 1 – 1 draw against 10-man Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi in a game played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium Enugu.

Ocheme Edoh gave the flying antelopes the lead in the first half but Lobi fought back and were rewarded in the 62nd minute with a goal by Kingsley Eduwo’s.

Shooting Stars Football Club of Ibadan defeated Niger Tornadoes of Minna by 3 – 1, Sunshine Stars of Akure defeated Rivers United by a lone goal while Ifeanyi Ubah FC held Heartland FC to a goalless draw in a game played at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
