Workers to get commercial orientation

There is plan to improve welfare packages for civil servants.

The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the federation has developed a four-point strategy that will help digitise the service and also give commercial orientation to government workers in Nigeria.

Head of Civil Service, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita highlighted this while speaking to State House Correspondents after having a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

“The president wanted an update on the service so far especially the 2017-2019 Head of Service strategy plan. This plan launched two months ago is standing on four pillars; first to develop an efficient, productive and incorruptible citizens’ centred civil service, the second goal is the enterprise resource management system, to digitise the entire civil service, then the third goal is the entrepreneurial development and commercial orientation, for civil servants, through which we want to get the service to look outside to generate additional revenue for government and the fourth goal has to do with improved welfare packages for civil servants and the present expressed satisfaction with our efforts,” she said.

She also gave an update on the Federal Integrated Staff Housing programme for civil servants, also known as FISH.

Mrs Oyo-Ita said her office is already collaborating with the developers and the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria to secure mortgage facilities for civil servants.

She also said the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing was showing tremendous support to the FISH programme.
