The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored bulk power supply in Bayelsa and parts of Rivers State following the reconnection of its 132kV Owerri–Ahoada transmission line to the national grid.
The restoration, completed around 6:00 p.m. on April 11, 2025, follows the reconstruction of four towers vandaliszed in March, according to TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah.
“This comes after completing reconstruction efforts due to vandalism that caused the collapse of four transmission towers”
According to Mrs Mbah, with the restoration, the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company PHEDC is now able to supply electricity to Bayelsa State and parts of Rivers State.
She explained that, these areas had been experiencing outages since towers 71 to 74 on the transmission line route were vandalized on March 11, 2025.
She retirated TCN’s commitment stressing g that the company remains dedicated to providing reliable power across the nation.
“TCN encourages communities to join in the fight against vandalism of critical transmission installations to protect these shared assets”
She added.
