FCT certified bird flu free

The Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has said residents can now consume birds without concerns of bird flu disease.

The Director Information and Communications of the Administration, Stella Ojeme during her interaction with journalists, confirmed that bird flu has been completely eliminated from FCT.

The Director announced that all poultry farms in the territory with reported cases of bird flu have been certified free since February 19, 2016, adding that adding that Lassa fever has been contained as well.
We’ll fumigate the whole territory to curtail further spread of the disease in FCT,” she said.

Rules and Regulations

Speaking on some of the commercial bike riders who have been violating rules and regulations in the territory, the Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Media, Abubakar Sani, noted that the Administration has constituted a mobile court for the trial of unapproved motorcycle riders in the city.

Also, the Chief Press Secretary to the FCTA, Mr Sule Hazat Mohammed during the briefing revealed that the administration has resolved to settle two months out of the three months’ salary owed local council workers while the local councils will pay the remaining one month.

He lamented that 90 per cent of federal allocation to the area councils goes for payment of teachers’ salaries, noting that the FCT Administration is poised to do personnel audit to ascertain the claim that 4,000 teachers are working.
