NPFL: Akwa United Overcomes Resilient Plateau United
Akwa United secured a tough 1-0 victory against Plateau United in match-day 11 of the Nigeria Professional Football League at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium in Uyo, and moved to fifth on the table.

The Promise Keepers continued their search for a goal in the second half and found it in the 53rd minute. A few minutes later, referee Marwan showed a second yellow card to Etboy Akan for a careless tackle and he was sent off. Akwa United had a huge task of defending it’s lead for the rest of the game.
In a turn of events, Plateau United took control of the game and created chances, but fell short. The home side defended well and even had moments when they could have doubled it’s lead.
However, Plateau failed to capitalise on the one-man advantage and lost the match. Plateau United have recorded just three wins in 10 matches.
