The All Progressive Congress, APC, Kano state chapter has registered over 2.5 million members in the on going Registration and Revalidation exercise of the party in the state.

The party also hopes to scale up the figure to 4 million as the exercise continues across the state.

Kano state Governor Dr.  Umar Ganduje stated this at the sixth edition of the Registration and Revalidation stakeholders’ meeting  held at the Africa House, Government House, Kano state.to review the conduct of the exercise.

He said due to increasing numbers of members, the party has requested for more registration booklets from the National Headquarters of the party in Abuja, as the available ones are getting exhausted.

We are all aware how the first set of 100 registers sent per a polling unit was exhausted. And how the second set of 200 per polling units is also being exhausted in the exercise,” said the Governor.

Governor Ganduje commended efforts of all the stakeholders who played one role or the other in making sure that, Kano excels in the exercise.

All these efforts is to make the party to become stronger and stronger, “…we are heading to 3 or 4 million members in the state. Just look at the trend since we started the exercise,” said Ganduje.

Governor Ganduje directed those conducting the registration exercise to ensure that there are no cases of marginalisation.

“…inclusiveness at the optimal level. There should be no marginalisation. Register all those who wish to be registered as bonafide members of our great party. That is part of the wisdom why we have been succeeding as a party in the state,” reminded the governor.

He further reminded that, what is needed is, authentic list of party membership, emphasising that, “We want quality exercise. An authentic membership, that is reliable.”

The  state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Murtala Sule Garo said there are 8,090 polling units in the state for which the national headquarters of the party gave Kano a total of 100 registers per polling unit but they became exhausted within twinkle of an eye, a reason why the state is demanding for more registration booklets.

The state demanded for additional 200 registers per polling unit. A list that is also about to be exhausted. Your Excellency Sir, the additional 200 membership cards per polling unit, have already been collected by members in almost 7,000 units. So there is a need for more from the national headquarters, ” Garo solicited.

In Kano state we get all the necessary support we are suppose to get from the state government, courtesy, the governor, and all other stakeholders. This is highly commendable,” acknowledge Matazu.
