APC receives mass decampees in Kano

The Kano state chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has received a large number of decampees cutting across many registered political parties in Nigeria.
Among them were political heavyweights like A. A Azura of the Green National Party of Nigeria, GNPN, Sagir Takai of Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, and Risquah Murtala of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP and son to the late head of state, General Murtala Muhammed, Binta Spikin, Rabiu Bichi and UmarYakubu Dan Hassan.
A majority of the estimated 150,000 decampees came from the Kwankawssiya faction of the PDP which includes Twenty-Seven (27) state Coordinators and their followers led by Ambassador Olorun femi.
The Kwankwassiya faction, usually identified with recaps is headed by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who was a former Governor of Kano state and two times Presidential aspirant.
The decampees were presented to the APC faithful at the event marking June 12th as “Democracy Day’ in Nigeria, held in Kano state.
Receiving the decampees, the state Governor, Dr Umar Ganduje said it gladdens his heart that they have come to swell the number of the party
He said all the decampees should feel free as they are now born again and have equal rights like all other older members of the party, urging them to contribute their best to the party.
“For those;of you comming from the Kwankwassiya movement drop your red caps and feel free. You all now have equal rights, stand, respect and origin in our great party, the APC.
“As new APC member, you are born again, in a nation that we are proud of. We will quickly forward your names to your individual states for registration,” Ganduje said.The decampees said they have come to join the party to contribute to the meaningful development being carried by the Ganduje led administration in Kano state for the betterment of the people of the state and indeed the entire country.
Ambassador Olorun femi said they have been in the Kwankwasiyya movement for long years but have now come to declare sincerely for the APC and support the Governor of Kano state in moving the state and the country forward.
Azura said he is joining the APC with all his members from the 44 local government areas of the state for good.
“We are here to join the governor in the good work he’s doing for Kano,” Azura said.
According to Risquah, in politics, one only goes to where he is liked, as such he is at home with APC and to join hands in the good work Ganduje is doing for Kano state and indeed Nigeria.
Sagir Takai on his part pledge loyalty to the party and the state governor. He, however, told party supporters to shun politics of bitterness as the 2023 general elections draw nearer.
Hon. Faruq Adamu Aliyu, who represented the National Chairman of APC, Mai Mala Buni to receive the APC entrants commended the decampees for the steps taken and urged them to quickly go and collect their membership cards.
“I call on the new and old members of the party to remain focused and steadfast to make the party wax stronger,” Aliyu said.
The Chairman Organizing Committee of the event, Honourable Alasan Ado Doguwa said the coming of the decampees is evidence of the growth and acceptance of the party APC which has led to Governor Ganduje being voted twice and consecutively.
In attendance were also two Senators from Kano South and Kano North, Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya and Barau I. Jibrin, Speaker Kano State House of Assembly, Right Hon. Ibrahim Chidari, members of the National Assembly and members of the State House of Assembly, party leaders and elders, members of the State Executive Council, local government chairmen, among others.
