The leadership of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) at the weekend, took delivery of new jerseys ahead of the opening match of the 2022 football competition.
The brand new jerseys were donated by a philanthropist and Vice President of the Abuja City Sports club, Sylvester Uzoama, who is also a board member of FCT Tennis Association.
SWAN FCT chairman, Ndubueze Chidoka, while presenting the jerseys to members hailed the donor and assured that the association is always ready to partner willing individuals and corporate organisations in advancing sports development within FCT and beyond.
Two prominent television stations in Africa – Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) and Africa Independent Television (AIT) will on Monday trade tackles in the opening match 2022 FCT SWAN football competition.
The fixture, hosted by the Director of Media, Mark ‘D’ Ball Basketball Championships, Kingsley Aigbonoga, became evident after an official draw at the weekend in Abuja pitched both sides.
Also in the preliminary round, 2021 finalists – News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) will face Print Selected, while global radio outfit – Voice of Nigeria (VON) battles Online Selected.
The tie between network giants – Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and Radio Selected completes the day’s action, slated for the Practice pitch of Moshood Abiola National stadium, Abuja.
According to Ayo Makinde, secretary of the organising committee, aside football, this year’s sporting event will also feature Tennis and Scrabble on Tuesday, Handball and Volleyball on Wednesday.
Earlier, the association’s leadership received two trophies and prize money from former Super Eagles coordinator Emmanuel Attah. Also, Nigeria Pillar of Sports Chief, Donatus Ejidike, donated a trophy.
The ongoing SWAN kick-started on Saturday with a Keep Fit moment where members engaged in Aerobics as well as Walking and Jogging.
