2022 Hajj: Niger State suspends official for alleged corrupt practice

Pilgrims welfare board in Niger State North Central Nigeria, has suspended Bida local government official of the commission for alleged diversion of intending pilgrims fares.
The executive secretary of the Commission in the State,Alhaji Umar Makun Lapai ,who stated this to the media in Minna the State Capital, mentioned that the Bida Local government Area Pilgrims Welfare Officer ,Nma Ndagana failed to remit Money paid by some intending pilgrims to the commission for onward processing for the Hajj operations
“The APWO ordered some intending pilgrims to his personal account instead of paying to the designated official account, and could not remit the said amount to the commission up till now”. Added Makun.
The Secretary of the Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board, who further said that a committee had already been set up to investigate the allegations, did however, give the actual number of affected intending pilgrims.
“The number of people registered through the Bida local government Area Pilgrims Officer was more than the allocation given to him and he only remitted for the number of people for his local government”.
Meanwhile, over 500 intending pilgrim out of the 2,265 intending pilgrims have so far been airlifted from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja,to the holy land ,according to the Executive Secretary ,of the Niger State Pilgrims welfare Board ,Alhaji Umar Makun Lapai.
