The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, says the other parties don’t threaten his party; instead, APC is committed to democratic and progressive principles.

Mr. Tinubu stated this while speaking to journalists after a closed-door meeting with the APC National Working Committee at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

The APC Presidential Candidate expressed determination to make Nigeria a progressive state democratically.

“We are not threatened, we are committed to democratic principles and values, we are not bickering, can you say that of the other parties? We are what we are, a progressive party.

“We’ve come together as a party and taken progressivism as our doctrine. Yes, we must be progressive in our thinking, ideals, and objective to serve the country.

“Yes, democracy is challenging. It is very hard and difficult for our system to manage, we have seen challenges left and right outside the international sphere of politics but we are determined to make sure that we democratise Nigeria fully,” Tinubu said.

The APC Presidential Candidate further cleared speculations about his relationship with the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, explaining that there is no rift between them as postulated by some people.

He explained that he and the National Chairman have a long history and that he appreciates Senator Adamu’s wisdom as a leader.

“I read in some newspapers that there are disagreements between me and the chairman, that’s a lie. We’ve come a long way, they don’t know,” Tinubu said.

Speaking about the presidential campaign, which will officially begin on September 28, the APC Presidential Flag bearer said the meeting aimed to consult on the organisation structure for the campaign.

He urged party members not to be offended if they were not part of the Presidential Campaign Council, saying they would be given other responsibilities.

“When INEC will lift the ban, how do we work out the details, work together, implement all we have been saying? Who are the members of the campaign council? Who will not be members? And I beg you not to be angry if you are left out because we will give you another responsibility.

“Not every member here can be a member of the presidential campaign council,” Tinubu said.

Present at the meeting were the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Mr. Tinubu’s running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, the Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign, Governor Simon Lalong, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary of the Campaign Council, James Faleke, members of the APC National Working Committee amongst others.
