The All Progressive Congress, APC Sokoto State chapter has unveiled Alhaji Idris Muhammad Gobir, as Deputy Governorship Candidate for Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto in the forthcoming 2023 elections.
Chairman of the party, Alhaji Isah Sadiq Achida, made the announcement while addressing journalists in Sokoto State.
Achida said the choice was made after due consultations and deliberations by the State Party Governorship Candidate and other relevant stakeholders.
“After a wider consultations by the party stakeholders, we have come to the conclusion that our unanimous choice of Deputy Governorship Candidate of our great party, the APC in Sokoto State is none other than Idris Muhammad Gobir,” Achida said.
According to him, Gobir was a one time Commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning and also serve as Sole Administrator of Sabon Birni local government area during Senator Wamakko adminstration in Sokoto.
In his acceptance speech, the Deputy Governorship Candidate, Alhaji Idris Muhammad Gobir, thanked all APC stakeholders in the State for finding him worthy to fill the position as running mate for Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto in the coming 2023 general elections.
Gobir also commended the leader of the party in the State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, for his support towards tremendous achievements of the party.
He pledge to work hand in hand with his Governorship Candidate to ensure victory of the party come 2023.
Gobir, was born in 1975, in Sabon Birni local government area of the State and was an alumnus of Prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a holder of Masters Degrees in various discipline among others.
Recall that the State Chapter of the APC on 28th of May, 2022 conducted it’s primary where Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto emerged as Gubernatorial flag bearer of the party, while the position of the Deputy Governorship Candidate was vacant.
