The leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to restore Nigerian economy for the prosperity of the people.

Tinubu made the promise while speaking with APC delegates in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State south-south Nigeria.
The Presidential hopeful, who was received by Cross River State officials and stalwarts of the APC, described himself as a leader, who represents the dynamics of the Nigerian economy.

According to him, he has the brains, vision, intellect and the capacity to turnaround the economy of the people by creating access to grants and loans designed to support the growth of micro, small and medium scale businesses across Nigeria.

While canvassing for votes from delegates, Tinubu assured “we will bring Nigeria’s prosperity back. We will create a commodity market. We will create small scale business lending that will give you capital.

“I am the son of a market woman and I know what it is to sweat as a trader. We will do something like the MarketMoni, but we will make it easy for you; economic recovery will be there for you and your children.

“I promise you we will create jobs, we will rehabilitate those who are displaced by Bakassi. We will dredge and rebuild the port in Calabar and we will create hope, life and prosperity,” he vowed.

The presidential aspirant noted that as the former governor of Lagos State, he was able to revitalize the economy and mentor several young people to become successful individuals as well as made free education available to all Nigerians resident in that state.

Unifying leader
The aspirant further stressed the importance of a united Nigeria irrespective of cultural, tribal, ethnic and religious diversity.

He said, “the Nigeria that we want is a diversified Nigeria without discrimination; living together in diversity, to work for the prosperity of our people, and to do that we must move together.

“It is in your hands; the season of politicking has come. People will promise but only a few can deliver. I am standing before you as a fulfilled man, very confident of myself that I can turn Nigeria around,” he stressed.

On the entourage of the presidential aspirant was the former governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, who said that Nigeria needs “a unifying leader in 2023, who panders neither to ethnic nor religious sensitivity, who is not bound by toxic regional solidarity and yet known for outstanding leadership qualities.”

Power shift
He urged the delegates and Nigerians to demand the return of power to the south for equity, justice and fairness as well as avoid the tyranny of the majority, saying that Tinubu would provide inclusivity and positively transform the economy of Nigeria.

In a goodwill message to the people, the governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje stressed the importance of the unity of Nigeria and the need for power shift to the south, which though not enshrined in the party’s constitution, was what he described as a “gentleman’s agreement”.

Ganduje urged Cross River delegates to join Kano State to cast votes for Tinubu as a candidate, who has the socio-economic blueprint to unify and grow the nation’s economy.

Highlight of the meeting was the donation of a pictorial campaign document chronicling the achievements of the aspirant when he was the governor of Lagos state by an APC Stalwart, Dr. David Okon.
