2023: Barau clinches APC Kano North Senatorial ticket

The Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriation, Barau Jibrin has won the  APC Kano North Senatorial district ticket for the 2023 general elections

Barau won the re-election ticket after endorsement by 697 delegates’ votes, following the stepping down of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as part of the reconciliation efforts between the APC stakeholders in Kano.

The delegates making the northern senatorial District consists of 16 Local Government areas.

Speaking shortly after his re-election, Senator Barau Jibrin assured stakeholders that he will continue to carry along everyone from the area regardless of his party affiliation.

“My re-election to contest the Senate seat is a testimony that Kano APC is one strong family that believes in the progress of the State,” he said

He commended Governor Ganduje for his fatherly role in handling the affairs of the State.

Some delegates who spoke at the venue said they voted overwhelmingly for Barau Jibrin because of his footprints all over the 16 local government areas of the Kano North, during the last eight years of his tenure.

Sani Dauda from Shanono Local Government area of Kano, said for the first time in the history of the District, the Senator rehabilitated their three Dams of Guzu Guzu, Watari and Tomas so as for them to enjoy irrigation farming.

Another delegate, Sani Danlami notes that Senator Barau Jibrin has constructed road networks for them linking almost all the local government areas, stressing that “the Kano to Dayi road leading to Kano Dual carriage roads was another giant project undertaken by the Senator.”

Similarly, Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa has also won the All Progressives Congress APC ticket for the seventh time.

The House Leader clinched the ticket unopposed during the party primaries held at the Tudunwada/Doguwa Federal Constituency.

In his acceptance speech, Doguwa thanked the voters for reposing confidence in him, and promised not to disappoint them.

Alhassan Ado Doguwa said his biggest political ambition is to become the Speaker of the House of Representatives if elected come 2023.
