The President’s Cup was a family affair as both sides could not be separated at the end of a high goal of five chukka encounters between Hadi Sirika’s Rubicon of Abuja and Malcomines of Jos.

The game had to be decided by a coin toss after it ended in a 7-7 score draw on Sunday.

The result of the official coin toss performed by the Minister of Youth went in favour of Rubicon as they emerged victorious against their perennial rivals from Jos.

It is also noteworthy interestingly, that both sides had also clashed earlier on Saturday in the Argentine Ambassador’s Cup, which saw Rubicon also emerge victorious after a pulsating encounter, which ended 6 to 5 goals.

And the NSK Farms polo club thrashed Dolce Polo team 9 to 2 goals to claim bragging rights of the Guards Challenge Cup.

A highly elated Chairman of the Nigerian Army Polo Association, Brigadier General Adamu Laka, while expressing his satisfaction with the performance level of the tournament, also emphasised on the succession plans of the Guards Polo Club.

We are very grateful to the Chief of Army Staff for his relentless support in ensuring that we organised this event successfully. Now as part of our transfer of the batton to the next generation, we are building a children’s equestrian riding school whereby we bring children between the ages of 3 and 8 for professional trainers to teach them on how to ride horse, because, when you can ride a horse then you move to the polo field“.
