The National Population Commission, NPC in Nigeria has taken a day working visit to Kwara State North Central Nigeria to advocate for more support from stakeholders in the State.
The Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Kwarra who led a deligations of the NPC to the Kwara State Government House, the emir of Ilorin and the famous Michael Imoudu National Institute For Labour Studies in Ilorin the State capital, called for more support and collaboration towards achieving a credible and acceptable 2023 Population and Housing Census in the country.
Mr. Kwarra also commended the stakeholders for their support to the Commission towards achieving it mandate to provide data for national planning and development by conducting credible Population and Housing Census in Nigeria.
The Kwara State Governor, Mr. Abudulrazak Abdulrahaman who was represented by the Deputy Government of the State Mr. Kayode Alabi said he would continue to champion the cause for the 2023 population and Housing Census in the country.
Mr. Alabi said his State would continue to advocate for the Census because of its significant to national planning and development.
Despite the postponement of the 2023 Population and Housing Census in Nigeria, paramount traditional ruler of Ilorin, the Emir of Ilorin commended the commission for its activities towards ensuring a credible digital census in the country.
The NPC further held a sensitisation workshop on the imperatives of Census for organised Labour at the Micheal Imoudu National Institute For Labour Studies.
The Director General of the institute, Mr. Issa Aremu said his institute would continue to support the commission to achieve credible and acceptable 2023 Population and Housing Census in the country.
Mr. Aremu charged Nigeria’s organised Labour to be agents of the 2023 Population and Housing Census so as to ensure that the country has accurate data for national planning and development.
He discribed Population and Housing Census as the pillar of any nation and work force.
