The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN has affirmed its posture to vote for a presidential candidate possessing the qualifications specified in the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN guidelines.

The chairman of PFN in Cross River State, south-south Nigeria, Dr. Lawrence Ekwok, who made the remarks was speaking at the end of a two-day conference tagged “Greater Nigeria Project and Special Solemn Assembly 2022’ in Calabar, the state capital.

CAN’s guideline

Dr. Ekwok told Journalists that since PFN was one of the five blocks in CAN, the fellowship was resolute on its stance to adhere to the guidelines, which have already been distributed to the churches across Nigeria.

According to him, “the church is in a position to decide who rules and leads them. I believe so many people have more understanding now that the church has more roles to play than just praying.

“The PFN is one of the blocks of the Christian Association of Nigeria; and CAN has taken a position as to who every Christian should vote. The association came out with a guideline and we are following that guideline,” Ekwok stressed.

Speaking further on the criteria of the choice presidential candidate should have, the PFN state Chairman explained, “we are talking about credibility, integrity, a candidate that would not discriminate, a candidate that fears God. It is left for the individual to look at the candidates and choose the one that fits the description.”

Synergy

The Secretary General of PFN and founder, Charismatic Renewal Ministries, Dr. Cosmos Ilechukwu in a message to members in Cross River State emphasised the importance of brotherly love and fellowship, which is the basis of the organisation.

He urged, “let us answer the prayer that God prayed for all to be one; and that is the motto of PFN. I want to see it in practical manifestation in our midst. I want to see PFN become a fellowship. It is called fellowship, a community, communion, a relationship.

“I want PFN to be a relationship based organization in that way, we will become the mighty family that God wants us to be. Our prayers would be more effective when we act in synergy and unity, heaven will bear witness to us,” the PFN scribe said.

Ilechukwu, who represented the national president of PFN, Bishop Wale Oke at the two-day conference, also urged Nigerians to allow the will of God prevail in the forthcoming general election.

“The wind of change is blowing and we see that there is a cloud of glory hovering over Nigeria. Let us not truncate that cloud; let us ride on the wings of that cloud and let God do the thing he has planned to do by giving Nigeria a lease on life, fresh air, so that Nigeria will come out of its state of comma and go ahead to become the true giant of Africa,” he urged.

The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of the Greater Nigeria Project, Professor Kyrian Ojong said that the programme was being held across the different states in Nigeria to mobilise and sensitise its members on the events unfolding within the political space.

Highpoint of the conference were prayers for Nigeria, the political leaders, Cross River State and the church led by prominent preachers such as Dr. Nick Eze of Christ for the World Mission and Bishop Aniefiok Akpabio amongst others.

The service also featured choral renditions by the PFN women, Assemblies of God mass choir and the PFN mass choir.
