Residents of Kaduna State, North West Nigeria have commended the process and conduct of the 2023 general election in the State.

They expressed gratitude to the President for the new electoral law and technological device which made the procedure seamless.

Sunday Amos who spoke to our correspondent opined that the 2023 general election is the best Nigeria has ever had as citizens were given the opportunity to choose candidates of their choice irrespective of party affiliation.

“Even if my candidate is not declared the winner, I am still happy because I voted my conscience.”

Naira Policy
He also said the new naira policy has drastically reduced vote buying, allowing electorates to vote for credibility.

Lilian John explained that, unlike in the past when candidates celebrate victory before the conduct of the election, the new electoral law has forced them to canvass for votes painstakingly.

“This election has proven to be a success, the best of its kind. It is no longer business as usual where politicians impose candidates on us. Citizens have been allowed to vote for their candidates and we are happy about that. There is nothing like top to bottom, people now vote for credible candidates on different party platforms.”

For Sadiya Abubakar, she said she was impressed with the orderly manner people displayed at the voting units.

“You see Kaduna is one of the volatile states in the North, but people are enlightened and know that violence is not the way. They displayed orderliness while casting their votes.”

Generally, Kaduna is peaceful and has concluded elections. Results are being collated at the Local Government Areas which will later be submitted to INEC later in the day for the announcement.
