Nigeria and Africa’s leading Scholar in electoral administration and politics, Professor Adele Jinadu has advised the Independent National electoral Commission to improve in their future electoral performance especially in the area of conveying materials on election day

Professor Jinadu who stated this during a special postmortem roundtable on the 2023 election in Nigeria held at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs , NIIA Lagos, added that other African countries look up to Nigeria to conduct credible elections.

He said that INEC should be able to provide efficient logistics during elections and provide adequate security for all involved.

The Director-General the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs of the Institute , Professor Eghosa Osaghae in his opening remarks noted that elections are seen as war in Africa , “people go into elections preparing as if going to war. And this should not be so”.

” When you plan for elections you don’t have to plan to win alone, because election is not a do or die affair. In a war situation, there is nothing else to consider rather than winning, Professor Osaghae stated .

The Presidential candidate of Social Democratic Party, Prince Adewole Adebayo frowned at INEC’s inability to maintain their promises to Nigerians before the elections including the use BVAS machines for credible elections.

Prince Adewole regretted that some political parties are not interested in free and fair election but interested on winning the elections .

Senator Ugochukwu Uba in his submission also advised INEC to always carry out a robust enlightenment before elections.
