Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has emerged as the Governorshp flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He was the sole candidate of the party, who was re-elected by 663 delegates during the Adamwa State PDP Governorship Primary, held at the Mahmud Ribadu Square, in Yola.
The Chairman of the Electoral committee Mr. Gibon Timothy Kataps, who made the announcement, said a total of 668 delegates were accredited to veterinary, but that the votes of five delegates were void.
In his acceptable speech, Governor Fintiri thanked the PDP delegates and party stakeholders for the mandate given to him to once again carry the mandate of the party in the 2023 governorship elections.
He recalled how the PDP picked him in 2018 to victory in the 2019 governorship election, which enabled his administration to stablize policies, provide governance across the state.
Governor Fintiri said he was able to address insecurity, provide physical infrastructure and reform civil service, education among other sectors within his three years in office.
“We unpacked the 11-Point Agenda which became our potent battle arsenals during the campaign and strategic development compass when we won. We sold our campaign to the people of Adamawa State with a sincerity of purpose and patriotism to our State.
“We were honest and truthful to every commitment we made during the campaign. Trust was one ingredient the APC led Government lacked. That was what we cultivated in reckless abundance. The people believed us as much as they could with their lives. To the voters of Adamawa State, the 2019 election was an opportunity to vote between continuous lies and sincerity. And they chose the latter,” Governor Fintiri said.
He congratulated all PDP aspirants who emerged winners, assuring them that the party would stand by them, while calling on those who were not successful to support the party’s course.
The Adamawa State Governor said it was binding on all Adamawa delegates and people to support, as well as ensure that the Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emerged the Presidential flag bear of the PDP for next election.
