Abubakar Mohammed, Maiduguri
Many supporters from various groups and associations within the state gathered at the Maiduguri government house to show their support and call on the Borno State governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, to run for a second term as governor of the state in the forthcoming election in 2023.
Over 179 clubs, associations and professional bodies with thousands of members have raised funds and presented a symbolic cheque of 50 million naira to the Borno State Governor.
It is to cover the cost of purchasing expression of interest and nomination forms under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Alhaji Awaji Bukar, who spoke during the symbolic presentation, said, “the 50 million naira was a contribution from as low as 1000 naira and above by some of their members.
It aims to convey their appreciation to Governor Zulum for his purposeful leadership to the good people of Borno State. The donations came from many registered members of over 179 clubs, associations and professional bodies across the state.”
He further describes Governor Zulum’s government as one of the best leadership the state has ever witnessed in the past three years, with several projects, policies, and humanitarian gestures.
Governor Zulum expressed gratitude and satisfaction to the group and accepted their call on him to serve.
He reassured the good people of Borno that if re-elected, his government would put more effort into seeing it restores the state’s past glories.
He further said a second term would enable him to construct more infrastructures and invest far more in commerce, vocational education, job, and wealth creation and among others.
