Former President of the Nigerian Senate, Dr Pius Anyim, says he has what it takes to be the country’s next President.
He disclosed that Nigerians need a president who would be fair to all citizens and not a selected region or ethnic group.
The former President of the Senate, who was the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in Nigeria, told Voice of Nigeria’s Political Correspondents that “It is a Nigerian president we are looking for, so let us come out of these issues of South East and South West.”
While responding to the zoning of the 2023 Presidency to the South-East zone of Nigeria, he noted that “if hundred people in the South East present themselves for the election, then it is up to Nigerians to choose who they think can be the Nigerian President.”
Dr Anyim, a Presidential Aspirant under the platform of the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, further said that he has the experience to be Nigeria’s President if given the mandate come 2023.
As a former President of the Senate, He said he headed the legislative arm of government, and he had the responsibility of leading that entire arm. “We made laws we think are appropriate for the good governance of Nigeria,” he said.
