As more presidential aspirants declare their interest in running for Nigeria’s number one seat, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ogbonna Onu, declares his intention to contest the presidential position in the forthcoming general election.

In declaring his presidential ambition, Dr Onu said Nigeria must be self-reliant as it has what it takes to be a producer rather than remaining a consumer nation.

“We must produce many things that we need and use. We have all it takes to achieved this. By doing so, we can create wealth and enough jobs for our people, fight to defeat poverty, and increase prosperity for our nation,” Dr Onu stated.

He said that Nigeria would no longer depend on other nations to solve its problem.

Instead, he would use the knowledge of the economy driven by science and technological innovation to make the country great if elected as the president of Nigeria.

“We are better equipped to solve these problems ourselves. It’s the road we have to take, this is the road that Science, Technology and Innovation will make possible for us. I have a dream that Nigeria will one day lead the world,” Dr Onu explained.

He said Nigerians have the key to unlocking the country’s prosperity through a knowledgeable economy driven by Science, Technology and Innovation.

“I am convinced that I have the knowledge, experience, credibility, education, vision, integrity and maturity.

“I am a man the people can trust to be the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as the chief servant of the nation,” the Minister added.
