A Nigerian Industrialist and Politician, Sam Ohuabunwa, says he will address the nation’s security challenges proactively while creating a viable economy  if elected as president.

Ohuabunwa said this when he formally presented his form of interest to contest Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election under the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at its secretariat in Abuja.

The 71 year-old Industrialist said having toured several states of the federation, he promised that intelligence-driven interventions along with stronger community collaboration would form the backbone of his nationwide security policy.

“I have travelled virtually to all the 36 states of the federation to understand the peculiar security needs of Nigerians. Anybody who is not committed to Nigeria’s peace and progress cannot do what I am doing.,” he said.

Anybody who wants to change Nigeria must confront the ills with courage and political will. We cannot be running away from kidnappers and armed robbers and giving away the country to them.

“We need to confront them and take back our country. Nigeria must work for everybody but security of lives and property is non-negotiable,” he added.

Economy

Ohuabunwa promised to initiate fiscal policies that would turn Nigeria into a global economic power.

He said  people-oriented policies within a business-friendly climate would not only speed-up Nigeria’s economic development, but also ensure security.

“Nigerians should be hopeful. A new government is coming and we will enthrone a new government in 2023. We will create a first-world country that will work for everyone. A country of justice, prosperity and security.

“I have been around the country to see what our people are going through, to empathize with them. My chances are as high as any other aspirant ,”  Ohuabunwa noted.

The opposition PDP will conduct a national convention to nominate its Presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections on the 28 and 29 of May, 2022.

So far 15 aspirants have indicated interest to contest the 2023 Presidential election under the PDP.
