A political group, Osinbajo Support Movement, have called on Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to contest for the office of Nigeria’s President in 2023.
Convener of the group, Olawale Badmus, made the call while celebrating the 65th birthday anniversary of the Vice President at the Mother Theresa Motherless Babies Home, Gwarimpa, Abuja, where food items and other essential commodities were donated.
Badmus explained that OSM, which comprised men, women and youths, were calling on Vice President Osinbajo to run for the office of President in 2023 because they believe in his ability to tackle the numerous problems confronting the nation if given the opportunity.
He said the gesture of donating the items to the orphanage home was because they wanted to help tackle some challenges that the children were facing and also to ensure that the children’s present condition does not affect their health.
According to him, “We embarked on this uncommon and selfless gesture because the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, loves children a lot.
“During his 62nd birthday anniversary in 2019, he used the occasion to raise funds to build schools and orphanage homes for displaced children in Borno State who were victims of insurgency, so we believe he would be happy that we celebrated his 65th birthday with these children.
“We are also calling on him to run for the office of president in 2023 because at this stage of Nigeria’s existence, we need a leader who is vibrant and can take us to the promised land.”
Responding, the Supervisor of the orphanage home, Madam Martha, thanked the Osinbajo Support Movement for the gesture and assured that the items donated would be used judiciously.
The items donated to the orphanage home include bags of rice, cartons of indomie noodles, cartons of children’s diapers, groundnut oil, ladies’ sanitary pads, and others.
