The governor of Sokoto State, Northwest Nigeria, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has successfully cast his vote at polling Unit 006 , Nizamiyya Islamic Primary school in Tambuwal Local government of the State.
Tambuwal who arrived at his polling unit in the company of security agents and some party members commended the massive turn of the people of the State, hobutondemned the late arrival of the voting material and commencement of the voting and accreditation.
“As you might have observed, I just cast my vote for the 2023 national election, to the glory of God almighty, the process of my poling unit has been very efficient, however, voting didn’t start on time in most of the polling unit here in Tambuwal, I have monitored throughout the LGA the voting has not started in good time in so many parts of the state due to late arrival of material from INEC office, I believe there is need for improvement in that, at the next round of election”.
Speaking on the extension of closing time because of the late arrival of the INEC official he said “well you can see that the turnout is very interesting and it’s been like this from the report I have from virtually all around the State people have turned up in mass to exercise their civic right and INEC should extend the voting time because the delay is from them and it is their fault, so INEC should consider extending time voting”.
Tambuwal also said that the security arrangement of the election is not that adequate.
“The security arrangements have been quite impressive so far because the reports I have gotten so far is that the polling unit out way the security personnel, and that there were efforts by some thugs to disrupt the election processes in quite the number of polling units but thank God for the maturity of voters who really calm down and refused to be intimidated or coward by this thugs otherwise the situation would have been completely bad,” he said.
“My message to the people of Sokoto state is that we should continue to come out and exercise our franchise and right and vote peacefully, as we know power comes from almighty God and he determine who ever get what and whatever the outcome people should accept it in good faith and then we move forward”.
Meanwhile the deputy governor of Sokoto state Manir Dan’iya has also cast his vote at about 12pm at polling units 002, Sangame ward in Kware local government of the State.
Dan’iya while speaking to Journalist after casting his ballot urged citizens to be patient and exercise their civic duty.
“Alhamdulliha we will always give gratitude to Allah subhanahu wata’allah for spearing our lives to witness this important event, and so far so good what I saw is impressive the arrangements by INEC is very commendable, as you can see each and every citizen is here performing there right they are casting their vote gently according to our constitution.”
When asked about what he has to say on the technical hitches of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BIVAS he said “I called on the citizen to be patient, this is time we are waiting for and this happen only one time in 4years and this is time that the citizen is given opportunity to exercise their franchise”.
